Unique
A crocus hybrid raised from seed collected on a Norwich roadside verge. In the millennium year crocuses were planted along the Earlham Road, from Earlham to UEA. A wise verge, maybe a mile long planting. Vast numbers, millions maybe. Over the years many hybrids have appeared, hybrids between the different horticultural clones in the original planting, each hybrid subtly different. In 2014 I managed to find a few seed capsules in the long grass that envelops the foliage in late Spring. Hunting for it makes me look more than a little crazy .... like someone who has lost a contact lens in a very unfortunate place :-) The flower is the first from that seed hunt.
A gentle day after a late start. We're still recovering from Tuesday's trauma. Good company and Jacinta and I both managed to get a few useful jobs done, between outings in her case and between cooking in mine. Jamie still sore but over the worst. First job for tomorrow - make an appointment to get the wheelchair balance point adjusted ;-)
