Derby Arboretum Entrance Lodge
Derby Arboretum has featured in my blips a few times this year, most recently on 17th September. I decided to go there again today for my lunchtime walk, in the hope of finding some attractive autumn colours.
The colours were disappointing, so instead I have opted for this photo of the arboretum's Entrance Lodge. Built in 1850 it is topped by a statue of the social reformer Joseph Strutt who donated what was the world's first public park to the town in 1840. It was restored in1994 by the Derby Historic Buildings Trust with a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
