Damp city

This evening we went to see the Halle Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall perform 6 pieces by Shostakovich - a generous gift from Andy. Before the concert, between heavy rain showers, the streets looked delightful, reflecting shapes, colours and bustling people.

For me the highlight was the Cello Concerto Number 1, featuring the solo cello of Alisa Weilerstein. Astonishingly good, especially in the quiet bits*.
