Seeking colour

So fascinated by colour and how our cameras capture it. I have some purple carnations and have been taking photos of them for a few days now. I took them over to the window today to try to capture the true colour of the petals. Such varied results. Had to hold the camera so close as I only wanted the flower heads in the photo. This is what happened. The intensity of the colour and subtle variations when the light hit from different angles is beautiful
