On this day ...

One hundred years ago, my dad was born.

This is one of the few photos I have of my dad. This photo was taken when he was about 16 when he had been salmon fishing on the River Ouse. There is a family story that he caught a record- weight salmon but I have not been able to confirm that.
Sadly, he became deaf as a result of measles in childhood and as a result he often struggled in group social situations as he had to wear a hearing aid. In those days they were the size of a small radio and one of my earliest memories is of him wearing it clipped to his shirt pocket.
And boy could he sing ...
Said no-one ever - he could have cleared a room in record time - I get my singing talents from him.
