Playing for a Blip
This blip of the accordion player in Middle Walk did not come cheaply as His Lordship will testify, but it saved my Can from being well and truly empty.
I was too taken up with not slipping into a huddle of old clothes on the pavement to bother with any distraction of finding a blip.
Once again the council have made the decision to save money by not gritting pavements or residential roads. Any falls resulting in broken bones is not in their remit - that cost belongs to the NHS. You can see the skewed logic.
The result was it was dangerous out walking this morning and we were doing that very thing in order to pop a birthday card into a friend’s house off the beaten track. Togetherness was the name of the game with HL and I stuck together in an alliance of arms and a walking pole. This worked a treat and we got there and back unscathed with a cosy coffee gratefully received at the home of the birthday girl.
The sun since then has probably thawed most of the ice, and so we will promenade again this afternoon under blue skies. We are lucky though that we have no snow in the centre of Edinburgh -not one snowman to be seen as far as the eye can see.
