X-Country Skiing, today in the sun
Another ski trip today, but this time in the sun! Down on the lake it was -11°C whereas home, 500 metres away but up the hill, was only -4°C. Cold air sinks on these very still days and there can be big differences as you go up/down hill.
We followed our own track from yesterday and then continued onwards to the far side of the lake. Once we were there we stood in the sun and watched it slowly sink onto the horizon before we set out on the homeward half of our trip. It felt good to be in the sun but it has no real warmth yet!
There were a lot more people around today, mostly because it's Saturday, but the sun helps too. Our neighbours were ice-fishing, and had a barbeque going to grill their catch, but they'd had no luck and were forced to open the sausages instead.
