Everyday I Write The Book

Wise Words

Rule number one in the NLP bible is not to think that your mental map of reality is the same as the reality itself. This is enormously difficult. As one famous man said, every day is really a battle in the dark chambers of the soul, which at least in part (I think) means trying to compare your map of reality with other people's and the objective world and learning to be tolerant and compassionate. Or as Ginger Rogers sang: "I'll work like a soul on fire / 'till the battle of the day is done". Wise words indeed.

The great Mr C. says you should spend some time reading from a good book every day in preparation for the battle of the day ahead. He was a Mormon and went for the scriptures but he wasn't precious about his religion and said there are a lot of wise words out there if you can put your hands on them, both secular and religious. He also said you should exercise lots. A healthy mind in a healthy body. Wise words indeed.

Another day in the office that didn't go to plan. Had people in tears at both ends of the day as well. Hadn't expected that. In between times, my licqourice allsort eating habit got re-activated, and I read an article about electric underpants. Seriously. They are a new product designed to prevent bedsores. Things like that have you reaching for the calendar to see if you have nodded off and woken up at the beginning of April...Still, some good news today: Top Gun has booked his first driving lessons. Look forward to him driving me about soon...
