Bench

Basically, this is one for my sis who knows about my love affair with French municipal benches. This one is from the 60's, a series that then got banned because young children would shove their fingers into the holes and get them stuck. From the 70's they made these benches in the same style but with smaller, rounder holes. The benches were then less resilient but, on the other hand (ha, ha) no longer had small children permanently attached to them by their finger-joints.
We found this one at the huge bi-annual brocante in Pezenas on Sunday afternoon. After some judicious and well-realised haggling, L managed to reduce the "we never budge" ticket price by 10%. Isn't it gorgeous? It seats four, it's comfortable and it's a 60's icon here in France. My boat has come in. I love it, I think it looks beautiful at the new house and will be a treat to sit in, and I'm told we need to get it cemented into place asap. That's icons for you.
