Buying beds

I've got it into my head that our mattress is really uncomfortable (despite it being fine for the last 15 years).  So I decided that we need a new one.  But what a lot of choice there is these days!

After consulting the 'Which' guide and reading loads of online reviews I thought I knew what I wanted.  And just to confirm my decision I was heading out of the door - despite the snow - to 'try before I buy'.

Except then I made the mistake of inviting Martin to come with me (who up until this point had been  ambivalent about a new bed), and it turns out he prefers a completely different sort of mattress firmness.  

So now we both have to find a compromise - grrrr.
