Sleepover

Many thanks again for lovely comments.

We slept over at Ca di Bati, even though the Boss is distinctly unwell. Morning came after a fairly turbulent night and the clouds rising out of the valley. It was warmer outside than in after a night of heavy rain.

I have become embroiled with a laurel thicket and its amazingly copious and over-towering brambles. The fire I left least night as a great pile of recalcitrant foliage and branches was almost miraculously reduced to a conical pile of ash this morning, that, with a quick rake, revealed its still ardent heart.

We cooked chicken and potatoes and courgettes and peppers over a charcoal fire before a final onslaught on the laurel.

Home then over the pass to an early night with continuing noise from our neighbours upstairs.

(The big building on the left is a nunnery of sorts. Five or six sisters still remain. The rest of the building is accommodation for events at the Romena church up the road that is a centre of Catholic activism.)
