horns of wilmington's cow

Well that's poor customer service....

End of October
Buy pair of not inexpensive trousers from a reasonably upscale independent Edinburgh (though now expanded to London) tailoring retailer.

Start of November
Pick up incredibly well-fitting new trousers.

Mid-January
While at work discover two large holes, worn through in a rather inopportune place.

Today
Return to store with trousers. Get told, "ah yes, with that fabric, obviously it depends on the fit and so on, but they can wear through in 3 months."

"Seriously? I mean. It's been ten weeks..."

"Yes. But we can fix them, we have the fabric, so they can be mended..."

"Oh, okay, that's good."

"... for seven pounds."

"What?"

"They're only supposed to be worn occasionally really, and they do wear through that quickly. We all wear them and they have to be repaired after three months or so."

"Frankly, if I'd been told when I bought them that they'd need to be repaired after just three months I wouldn't have bought them..."

*shrug*

Contact details for management taken. Email being prepared recounting that we've basically been told they don't sell a product that is fit for purpose; don't tell customers that product is not fit for purpose; and charge you when you note with them that it hasn't proved fit for purpose. Shoddy.

Got my wedding suit there. A couple of shirts. A jacket. A waistcoat. And a couple of bags. But frankly, even if they do (on pushing) refund or replace this item, I'll not be shopping there again.

Anyhoo, off after that surprising exchange to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the museum; then bottle some beer; haev a chat with my dad; watch Saturday night Fever all the way through for the first time (yes, really); and have something else go wrong with the turbo bike halfway through a session (might as well end the day on another frustrating note).

Oh, and then found out the Patriots have made the Superbowl. I don't like the Patriots.
