Ouch!

I watched a bird spring into flight, and in doing so, lost her feather. I wonder what it must have felt like. Did it hurt? Or did she even feel it at all? I would imagine that it might have felt like a sharp pinch. I know I winced as I watched her take flight leaving this single feather behind.
