Knott pop
I popped up Arnside Knott very speedily with a little bit of time to spare on my way to Lancaster.
Not sure if it fits the minimalist challenge and the theme of civilisation has had me pondering all week so far. This view certainly has a rich context - there's the obvious signs of life with a holiday park at the bottom of the shot. Across the bay is Heysham power station. This view always makes me think of all the glacial meltwater that must have flooded out of the Lakes at one time. I often think of the immigrant cockle pickers that met their horrific deaths here and what it must have been like. And I wonder about all those that used to use this route in years gone by to cross from Lancashire to Cumbria and of Wordsworth meeting travellers heading the other way and hearing news of the fall of Robespierre somewhere out there in the middle.
