Take off!

The fact that this bird is in flight is down to me.
It's what happens when you edge nearer and nearer to it and he starts looking at you out of the corner of his eye, very warily, until eventually he thinks, "Right that's enough, I'm off...!"

And that's when I snapped him.

What you can't tell from this photograph is that the edge that I was edging along was in fact the edge of the lake and I was looking through my camera lens as I was doing the aforementioned edging.

One wrong foot and I would have been in the lake with the ducks.
