On the road
So we left our lovely guest house in Francschhoek after a delightful breakfast in the sun. Then we had the long drive down to the sea. We don't mind this, as there isn't much on the road and the feeling of space and openness, which I hope I have captured in this photo, we like a lot. It's here that you realise how big this country is, and how small England is.
We stopped at Swellendam at our favourite café and then we were on our way to the coast. We are now in Mossel Bay, a place we have visited, but never stayed at. If I say that Lonely Planet describes this hotel by the sea as 'funky' you might imagine how different it is from where we were last night. But that is what we like - different. We have a huge apartment - no idea why - and we have just eaten at a packed and very noisy restaurant almost next door, where the fish was just perfect. We have now retreated to our ridiculously spacious space. And it is raining - well a bit.
