Northshield Rings

It is many decades since we first went to Portmore Loch (or reservoir), though Mr Flum is certain that we saw the Ancient Monument of a hilltop settlement and fort.

After a short foray along Peebles High Street, today we drove to the Westloch Road and walked round the Eastern side of the loch then cut across beyond the southern end to the Northshield rings. These are described in detail on the Canmore report. Too large to photograph in full this shows the two outer rings behind Mr Flum and the path approaching from the North.

According to Mr Flum's phone app we walked 6.61km, the whole time there was total silence, the birds having their midday nap, we did not meet a soul until nearing our start point, and all under a blue sky.
