2018 Friday — Schoolhouse at Old San Simeon
Today our adventure lead us north to the artist community of Cambria.
We stopped at a favorite gift shop “Among Friends” to purchase a birthday card for our granddaughter Desiree. Her birthday is Tuesday.
Then we ate lunch at the Bridge Street Cafe, where the owners now know us by first name because we are the crazy customers who always not only buy a sandwich, but also purchase 3 or 4 of the delicious carrot-cake cupcakes.
After lunch we headed to the Friday Farmers Market and the last opportunity this week to get some of Stephanie’s delicious mushroom barley soup.
Then we drove several more miles north to Old San Simeon Village to walk our 3 pups on one of the most beautiful coves on California’s Central Coast. We walked from one end of the cove to the other. Then we walked under the pier toward the mouth of a creek and there found an elephant seal sun bathing in the dry sand. We knew not to approach this enormous creature. So from a short distance I took photos.
Once our beach walk was completed, we drove toward Sebastian’s to purchase a soft drink and from the dirt parking lot we had this view of the one room schoolhouse, built in 1880’s and sits in the shadow of the famous Hearst Castle (make the photo big to see it), which is high on the hill.
That was our afternoon adventure.
