Lumen and The New Blue Crate
...or The Great Big Toy!
I put this together with Lumen's assistance. His stealing the directions was not helpful, but his enthusiasm was most encouraging. His conviction that this was something special for him was obvious. The possibility that his human would also benefit was my little secret.
The moment I put the cushion in with a couple of toys, Lumen was inside and rapturously playing. His pleasure, of course, gave me pleasure. I have been one of those people who cannot imagine a dog really liking a place of confinement. My dogs (and cats) have had the run of the place, and I've been OK with that. I think I have. But something seems to have changed my mind. I think... I am still in the "trying out" stage. And Lumen is helping...
Was part of his plan to rapidly drive me nearly mad with puppy fatigue? Don't get me wrong. I am still deeply in love with this little dog. But my age and creative inclinations insist that I do something. As long as the something is respectful of Lumen's needs. Well... Just imagine the little guy needs a safe haven containing a few of his favorite things, and maybe a little flavorful something to chew. Just occasionally... Like when Mama wants to blip without having her feet chewed, or worse, the electrical cords near her feet.
It was rather lovely to type these words without having my stomach in knots. Nice to relax and remember what a good little dog he is. When I give him a chance. I think I'll go see if he's ready to come out and play.
Extra: a rather clearer image of Lumen ensconced in his crate.
