Ladder? What Ladder?
The dishwasher wouldn't drain, so we hustled Ozzie around his walk so that we could be home for 9am. I was just saying to OilMan that we always had a three hour window to wait for these guys, but never seemed to be first on the list, when we spied his truck at the bottom of our driveway.
The dishwasher drained right away for him but he ran it through a whole cycle, had a cup of coffee and chatted with us about fishing and traveling. When He opened the dishwasher it was full of soap, so he poured a little bottle of anti-foam liquid, ran it again, pronounced it fixed, and took his leave, telling us with not to use dish soaping the sink because it has no 'air gap'. It has no air gap because we have a well. This seemed like a silly solution to me, but we'll see.
Sometimes discussions of a simple problem can go on for so long and get so complicated that I give up...but not Dana. This morning she wanted to borrow the long handled pruning saw to prune her cherry tree. OilMan wanted to use it to prune our plum tree, but didn't think it would work. That conversation morphed into some other conversation involving a ladder.
DANA: Where are you going to put the ladder?
OILMAN: On the stairs...
DANA: Oh no, you're not going to jury rig some ladder- on-the-stairs arrangement. Why don't you use the long handled pruning saw?
OILMAN: Because I don't think it will work on those branches
They repaired outside to peruse the situation.
DANA: (pointing with the saw) You just cut this one and this one and that one over there.
OILMAN: OK, I'll put it on the list....
ME: Your coffee is ready
DANA: How long will it be on your list?
OILMAN: I don't know...
ME: Your coffee is ready...
DANA: (Heading back outside) I'll just do it now....
ME: Your coffee is getting cold...
We carried on drinking our coffee and chatting with Jim and when next I looked up, I saw that Dana had decided to cut to the chase and skip the long handled pruning saw and the ladder...
OilMan took Dana and Jim and the dogs and the long handled pruning saw home and I drank Dana's coffee.
