Rabbie Burns
Jo and James invited us, with two other friends, to a Burns Supper at their house. Not ever having been to such a do it was interesting to take part. There were no kilts and no bagpipes, but there was haggis and whisky sauce. This is Jo bringing in the haggis which was addressed by James in the traditional manner before cutting open, I need to say here that the haggis was suitable for vegetarians and no little furry animals were harmed in the process.
The toast to the 'lassies' was given followed by a reply from Alice who we discovered was actually descended from the poet via one of his mistresses. It was a wonderful meal complete with 'neets and tatties', a lovely desert and a splendid cheese board.
A good time was had by all.
