Weather wise at any rate. Another 40 degree ++ day today; l now know what it's like to live in an oven.
When we first came out here to this country, it made the Newspaper when the temperature got to 100 degrees F. Government workers would threaten to walk off the job, and there were all sorts of social disruptions.
Yes, dear readers, it was pre-internet; back when there were two newspapers in Adelaide - the morning broadsheet Advertiser, and the afternoon tabloid The News.
Only few work places were air-conditioned; men wore suits and ties to work (woe betide them if they dare to take off their jackets and roll up their shirt sleeves) and women still wore stockings, petticoats and even - gasp - corsets.
These days we frequently gets bursts of several days of 105 degree F heat; and the main concern is a power failure which would render the ubiquitous air-conditioner useless.
And who says there is no global warming.
