The sun before the rain

I often a long Wood Street on the way to work, then go up into the Barbican Centre.

This church tower has always fascinated me.

St Alban's was a church in Wood Street. It was dedicated to Saint Alban. Only its tower now remains.

The original church was very old, maybe as old as 930 but what we see now has been rebuilt multiple times, 1634, 1685, after the Great Fire of London, 1858 and then after the blitz of 1940 only the tower remained. The rest of the church was demolished in 1965 and what we see now is a private dwelling on a traffic island

Go large to see the details of the tower

The things that made me smile:

It wasn't raining when I got off the train in the evening. Just before, there had been torrential rain and a thunder storm

Exercise: Walked across London on my own. Too exhausted after the Stansted drive to do anything else

PS Note the reflections in number 10 Gresham Street. I am starting to count down to the big event
