New set of wheels - Gwen
We all got up early and set off for Aylesbury at 8am to view a car we'd seen advertised in Autotrader. Penny didn't come with us as she wanted to go to the cinema with Lily at lunch time. The car we'd seen was a blue Nissan Micra for £560. The car had been described as a nice little runner. I couldn't get the thing to start when I went for a test drive. The gear stick was awful and it was a struggle to get it into gear. I decided straight away that the car would be no good for Bibi to drive as a learner. I can't believe that the seller could get away with trying to sell the car on Autotrader with a description that was not genuine. It was filthy too and the cup holder was full of lager that had been poured in.
Bibi was disappointed and went straight back to Autotrader to look for another. She found one for sale in Slough for £495 so after a brief visit to B&Q to try and find some flooring for the bathroom, we drove to Slough. This time, the car was much better and ran really well. It had just had its MOT last week so we snapped it up and I drove it home (after about half an hour on the phone with the insurance company). We stopped at a petrol station and bought some L plates.
We've named the car Gwen as it as my niece's second birthday today and Gwen is her middle name. After lunch, Bibi and I went for a drive around Hounslow Heath (trying to find the electrician's house that has wired our house incorrectly and refusing to come back to fix his mistake).
When we got back home, I had a little nap before Ben and I went to Rosie and Andrew's house for dinner.
