The Other Part of the Xmas Pressy

Today it was experiment day with the close-up lenses.

As I predicted yesterday the +4 is going to be the most useful of the set, giving that extra bit without the bother of the bellows or extension tubes.  I managed quite a few hand held shots of various bits and pieces, but for comparison it was back to the tripod and something flat as a subject.  Well we are still waiting for our daughter to pick up her pot of marmalade that we made for her, so although the edges of the label do curve round the jar (see extra) exaggerating the vignetting we still get the comparison of the magnifications.

For the exercise I used the Tamron 18-270 at 270mm and f8 for all the shots which are not cropped.  In the centre is the closest we can focus without a close-up lens attached, and clockwise from top right +1, +2, +4, +10.

For those not technically minded, here is a nice collage of the same Marmalade label.  At extra I’ve included a wide angle shot of the marmalade for you (with the +4 lens on – sorry).

A bit behind with commenting again – will catch up shortly.
