Northumberland tartan

A gift for a very good friend for one of those 'big' birthdays! A scarf in the Shepherd (or Border) plaid, the official tartan of Northumberland, and thought to be one of the oldest known plaids. Originally, the tartan was woven with black and white sheep's wool, but now natural plant dyes produce the check pattern.
