The Big Day

My 70th Birthday:-)  A strange feeling to be so old!  A septuagenarian even!! 

We all had a delicious three course meal last night and it was just as well we'd enjoyed the Spa beforehand as we'd have sunk to the bottom of the pool afterwards:-)

The morning started with birthday cards, presents and balloons in bed, followed by a wonderful full Scottish breakfast in the dining room.  We checked out of the hotel after taking lots of photos in the grounds and headed into Pitlochry for a walk around the shops etc.  

Then it was on up the A9 as far as Dalwhinnie, where we drive into sleet and snow and grey skies, so the planned visit to Aviemore was aborted and we headed back down to the House of Bruar.  I fell in love with a little owl doorstop and he was secretly purchased as another birthday gift for me:-)  

Then it was back to the Atholl Palace for a delicious Afternoon Tea and heavy lifting gear was almost needed to get us out of our seats by the time we had finished!  A pleasant drive home in late sunshine completed a most enjoyable day and the birthday treats don't end here, as more are planned for tomorrow:-)  I quite like this birthday lark:-)
