Breakfast Buddies

We had the pleasure of having Phil's grandchildren, Z (left) and B, with us for part of the weekend. They came up with their mother E on Saturday, and spent the night with us on Sunday, all of them relishing the gustatory delights of Bellingham, in particular.

Phil and I don't have much contact with teenagers here, so it's always interesting to be with this pair and hear about their lives. They're very good about helping Luddites like me understand technology; it was Z  and B who got me on to Instagram, which helps me keep in touch with them, and with several of my cousins' children, too.

I feel as if I'm living in several worlds at one time -- my own, here in Bellingham; the future, with the grandchildren; and the past, as I continue to delve deep into my father's side of my family tree. It's exciting, albeit a little disconcerting, to be exploring several time periods simultaneously.

At least it keeps my mind off the antics going on in our nation's capitol... no, I won't be watching Tuesday evening's State of the Union speech.

(P.S. It's good to know that I can still inspire Phil...)
