Glossop

This, for some reason, is "Old Cross" in the centre of the old part of Glossop, where Andy, Bonnie, Martin and I undertook a Superlative Walk today, braving wintry conditions.  We had noted the sage advice of the BBC weather forecaster that "any accumulation of snow will tend to be on the hills." So we stayed mostly in the valleys, where there was plenty in the air but little on the actual ground.

We started in Hadfield, where the League of Gentlemen was filmed, walked through Howard Park, passed what is allegedly a footballer's house, enjoyed a moment's sunshine near to All Saints Church and then, in Manor Park, Andy re-enacted a famous incident where he fell into a fast-flowing stream, whilst retrieving Bonnie's ball.
