Elaine Takes a Walk

Elaine committed her memories of last night’s ball and her morning discovery to her diary, propped up on fluffy pillows in bed with a cup of tea. After dressing, Elaine descended to the dining room for a breakfast of oatmeal and fruit, then quickly donned her woolen blue cape and matching (of course) tiny blue boots. Out the door she went, filling her lungs with cool crisp air.

As she approached the dense forest with it’s undergrowth of bracken and wild grape vines, Elaine heard humming, but could see no one.

“Hello? Hello? Who’s there?”
