El Manglar Iguana

I am endlessly fascinated by these amazing creatures. El Manglar, a local restaurant, is the best place to see them up close and personal as many of them inhabit the mangroves that border the dining area on the north side (it is also serves the best French Fries on the beach, which would be reason enough to visit). Tonight we arrived at feeding time, the restaurant staff feeds them tortillas, and a half dozen came out of the trees to eat. This large, colorful specimen was the king, chasing off all the smaller green guys so he could eat in peace. After he was finished, he posed for a couple of photos before ambling back up the nearest tree to sleep off dinner.
