Wild Wednesday!
What a funny day!
At lunchtime I helped hide bags of sweets, biscuits and fruit for a GPS-based lesson - no doubt part of a shameless ploy to bribe the kids into thinking that geography is the best (as if they needed bribing!). Missed the best-ever blip as one teacher nearly went head-over-heels while leaning over a fence, at which point I discovered he was wearing psychedelic... socks (I know what you thought I was going to say!). Afterwards we tested out the remaining sweets just to make sure they were OK - such dedication to duty.
In the evening my son's Beavers troop went to the fire station in the next village and they all had a terrific time. They all got to look around the station, sit in the fire engine, hear a talk about fire safety and use the hose, as well as getting a bag of goodies each. Unfortunately the only one of my pictures that came out was this one where I was sprayed with water!
Today is the 'Day for the Eradication of Poverty'. Couldn't think how to link a blip to that, except that this fire station is manned mostly by volunteers and it made me think how lucky we are that so many people in this country have (I assume) enough financial security from other means to be able to work for nothing to keep so many vital services running, from toddler groups to services for the elderly... and everything else in between.
