Early start to walk over to Marchmont and collect a piece of commissioned art for my sister in law’s birthday....on the way back across the Meadows the light dusting of snow and the clear sunny sky looked lovely (extra).
Quiet focussed day in the office although one infuriating meeting that I’m going to have to think how to handle the follow up from.
In the evening had supper with C before we went to see the celebration of the centenary of Muriel Spark’s birthday. Great evening of a staged play reading, memories, reflections and readings from her novels and poetry by Ian Rankin, Sandy McCall Smith and, here, Nicola Sturgeon (who gave a witty, well informed and affectionate tribute then encouraged wry laughter at the point in her reading when Spark advised ‘never answer a question with a straight answer’). Impressive and warm...unlike other national leaders could manage I suspect...
