Red London Buses and Bicycles
On the Strand walking west toward the Courtauld Gallery. At the far end of the bicycle rack there's even a classic red telephone booth (one of the few left in London). At the Courtauld I met my friend Gregory, to visit an exhibition of drawings by the French artist Antoine Caron (1521-1599) for Catherine de' Medici--esoteric in the extreme, to be sure, but we enjoyed it greatly. After a sandwich lunch Gregory went off to work and I met Marylee at the National Portrait Gallery, to see an exhibition of portraits by Cezanne (to view a series if images from the show, use this link). He did relatively few of them, and they were very interesting. There was also an excellent show of prize-winning photographic portraits--this one of a refugee in Northern Iraq was utterly stunning and moving.
