Bottoms up

For the last couple of days I've been trying to get a close up of the aphids on one of the roses at the park. It was either too windy or the light was too poor to get anything decent. This afternoon there was barely any wind but the light was even worse than it had been yesterday. Fortunately I thought of using the flash on the camera this time and managed to get this shot. It wasn't until I saw the aphids this close up that I noticed they were all sitting with their bottoms up and their heads down.

There are a few more buds on several other roses at the park but this was the only one I could find that had its stem this heavily covered with aphids.
