Fibonacci

Though it's cold, I stand tall and bright yellow
Because I'm not blue like Othello
The pattern of seeds
Quite nicely proceeds
In a pattern named after a fellow.

The pattern of spirals in the flower head is believed to follow the Fibonacci series. This year, being the centenary of Turing's birth, there's an experiment to test one of his theories about plants.
