Back to basics.
At dawn this morning all four cygnets returned to and climbed onto the little island in the pond where they were born on May 8th 2017.. By the time I managed to get there with my camera one of them had gone back into the water. The remaining three spent a good while on there, nosing (beaking?) around on the very patch where their mother laid the eggs, and making little crooning noises. Their parents are spending more and more time away from them now as very soon they will be preparing for another family.
I wonder if the knew this was the place of their birth.
