An ordinary life....

Happy International Golden Retriever's Day...

Lola says hi :-)))

Couldn't not blip Lola on IGRD but the real photo of interest is in extras but more on that later.

Busy day here with Alan's pal Andrew staying overnight.  They were both in their beds by midnight so that was something.  Alan had a lie in but Andrew was up bright and breezy by 9am.  My first task of the day was to make him French toast (despite the fact he'd already had a toasted bagel made for him by David :-)

French toast made and eaten, Alan and him watched some tv before it was time to go swimming.  They were in the pool for ages and had a blast.  ]

While I had some peace, I got another load of photos into frames.  Still working on the family and friends photos in small frames, not even begun to look at ones to go on the walls yet.  That will be a long but very pleasant task as amongst other things, I have some amazing prints from my Blip Pal Sleeyhead's collection and I am looking forward to deciding where they will live and then seeing them in place.

Due to having a double breakfast Andrew had a late lunch.  He doesn't like conventional things like soup or a sandwich.  He wanted a chicken pie!  So David took him to the butchers and let him choose a chicken pie.  Of course David just had to get two sausage rolls for himself!

The rest of the day has flown past.  Andrew certainly keeps us on our toes.

And that brings me to the photo in extras.  Apologies for the poor quality but it's an iPhone shot taken through a glass door and didn't want to distract Alan.

Such a simple scene but it makes me so happy as it shows Alan purposefully taking part in a game of Ker Plunk with Andrew (on the left) and his PA Jordan (sitting on the floor).

Jordan is holding a very simple cardboard rectangle that has the middle cut out.  Basically looks like a large mount for a photograph.  It's official title  is an E-Tran frame and it's one of many types of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) systems for people who communicate by means other than speech.

For this particular game, the four colours of the straws used in the game are pinned to each corner of the E-Tran frame and by holding it up and looking through he hole in the middle, Jordan can see which colour Alan is looking at so knows which colour of straw Alan wants removed from the game.  So simple, but so effective and so fast!  And can be used for lots of different choice making scenarios.

So after a busy couple of days, David has just left to take Andrew home.  But fear not, he will be back in three weeks time :-))
