At the fish market
Puerto Ayora. A bustling tourist town. A bit overcast and threatening rain but it never came. Off at 8 am to the Charles Darwin Institute. Super Diego has overtaken Lonesome George as the tortoise to see.
The town seemed to have more buildings than when I was last there. Bananas Y Iguanas was not there and I don’t think the T shirts are of the same quality. There were some beautiful mosaics though.
The best thing of all however was the fish markets. There were two sea lions. One behind the counter begging for food the other asleep on the seat. A heron that shooed all the Pelicans away, frigate birds that would sweep in and steal bits and pieces. Lots of Pelicans too and a lone Galapagos gull. I loved it.
We then wandered back to the wharf bought a margarita on the way, did a quick inspection of the church and supermarket and then back to the ship for dinner.
