An old friend returns

Today is Woodpeckers birthday and with the sun shining in through the bedroom window she opened her presents after I had brought up a cup of tea in bed. Outside the window we both delighted in watching two pairs of bullfinches dancing together around the branches of the nearby tree as if spring was in the air.

The post had already delivered a couple of presents one of which is this treasured tome. Some years ago Helena was delighted to discover Slightly Foxed, a small London based company for lovers of the printed word. They are a publishing company, as well as having their own shop and produce a celebrated quarterly magazine and this is the latest edition.

Helena has had a subscription for many years with occasional gaps, and this year it has been renewed. I know she is pleased. All their products are beautifully prepared, both physically and editorially, as I hope you can see from this picture. I asked her if I could take a picture before she opened it for the first time.
