Magnolia
With all the leaves gone from the lower trees in the woods by our house, we happened to notice a southern magnolia. We decided to see if we could dig it out and plant it in the yard. And we did!! It is about 6 feet tall (2meters) but is very slow growing..about a foot a year. They can get up to 40-50 feet when mature.
I know it will take years for it to be a tall stately tree but I am hoping it will bloom this summer and get those red seed pods in the fall.
Actually, right now, I just hope it will live through the transplant. Warm days ahead so that might help and more rain in the forecast!
And in the extra, a visitor who was hiding in some dead trees limbs i was trying to clean up. I think I scared him as much as he scared me..then we just looked at each other for a few minutes while I had a one sided conversation with him/her!
