Thresholds: Creativity, Spirituality, Community

I was very fortunate to be able to visit the preview of the Temenos exhibition at 35 Chapel Walk this evening. A brilliant collaboration through painting and poetry between Ric Stott and Ian Adam - I am a fan of both artists. The exhibition is an invitation to reflect on and connect with ‘threshold spaces’ with links made to Jesus sayings from the beatitudes.

The one that came away with me was “Into loss” depicting an underpass with a figure receding, haloed in blue, framed by light at the other end.

“All is blue.
An unkind of blue
Sorrowful songs trail behind you. Darkness
Longing for light but submerged in loss,
The tunnel of grief the path
You must take.
Blessed are those who mourn
For they shall be comforted
But deep in the groove,
An underground jazz,
The kindly light calls you on.”

If was great to see loads of friends including a few I haven’t seen for a while.

The picture is from inside the front window looking along Chapel Walk with reflections of exhibits including Ric’s provoking Pink Christ picked out against the background.
