A Snowy World
Today we decided to walk with our kick sleds ("Spark" in Swedish) instead of skiing. Where there's hard snow on the road (and no gravel/grit) you can stand on one runner and kick your way along with the other foot. Downhill you just stand on the runners and whoosh down. You can (sort of) brake by putting on foot down or pushing a runner out to one side. More info on Wikipedia.
We started along the road to check out the ditched snowplough but it had gone. Then we turned off onto this forest road. Our retired neighbour ploughs this track through his forest so he can walk his dog and so his wife can take her daily walk. It's about 1.5 - 2 km long and varies in quality a bit. In places we had to carry the kick sledges, rather than them carrying us!
The forest is in its most beautiful winter state just now with large quantities of snow hanging from the firs, turning them into pillars of white.
We do live in a lovely place!
