Falcon Heavy Test Flight

We watched the live stream of Falcon Heavy lift off at 22:45.  It was outstanding sight and a historic achievement. Falcon Heavy is the most powerful operational rocket in the world, with the ability to lift into orbit 64 000 kg  --a mass greater than a 737 jetliner loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel.

The rocket carried Mr. Musk’s red Tesla Roadster. Strapped inside the car is a mannequin wearing one of SpaceX’s spacesuits. It has been reported that the car played the song Starman by David Bowie when it was released into zero gravity.They are expected to orbit the sun for hundreds of millions of years and will at one stage pass closely by Mars.

The success gives SpaceX momentum to begin developing even larger rockets, which could help fulfill Mr. Musk’s dream of sending people to Mars.
