When we should have been eating ...
We went for a walk. At 1pm, when we'd had nothing to eat since breakfast. (One Medjoul date does not a lunch make). But it was so lovely, in a perishing cold sort of way, and Glen Massan in winter loses the sun so early that really if you're not there before 2pm you'll be in the shade the whole time ...
So this is the road at the foot of the glen, just before it starts to climb up beside the torrent that the burn becomes till you reach the wonderful cradle of the hanging valley among the hills. We had no snow at sea level, but the hills were white again, and the sky a peerless blue. We bashed up the hill and back down again and ate a bowl of chilli prawn and vegetable pasta at 4pm, followed by a slice of Christmas cake (it's not quite finished yet ...) because we felt we deserved it.
And now I've just come in from choir practice and feel like eating again ...
