Whew!

What a day!
Several changes of plans for picking up a couple of folk coming to the MIL's memorial due to us having been told the wrong station originally and then delays on the train lines which meant missed connections and having to re-route to a completely different destination so I could get them to the church on time - not helped by one of them them being a lady of a certain age who has always been 'highly strung' which has been made much worse my memory loss after a stroke.

But it all turned out fine in the end.
Family arrived from places such as Cornwall, London, Manchester, Inverness, the south of France and Washington DC as well as locally.

One of the ministers conducting the service was obviously finding it very hard as she had known the MIL for 16 years and was a good friend but everyone managed to hold it together.
Although a full biography had been written out and given to the clergy it wasn't read out and only certain bits were hinted on which seemed very strange but was actually in keeping with her character ..... keeping her private life private and giving out information on a 'need to know' basis.

Afterwards everyone gathered in the church hall and had a damned good time catching up with cousins meeting cousins for the first time and sisters-in-law seeing each other for the first time in many, many years  --  that sort of thing as well as photographs of groups of the extended family which had never been taken before because either they had never all been in the same room together or the families had increased in numbers.

All too soon it was time to bid farewell to each other (which took an age) and to make sure that those who had planes to catch knew the easiest way to get to the airport (it being rush hour by this point) and getting the aunt and cousin safely back on the train (from yet another station) ........ and I have just heard that they managed to get home safely without any problems with connections or delays.

More pictures from the day will  be posted later (in a day or two when I have gone through them all).
Todays blip is  a wire tree on the windowsill between the sun and the curtain.
