Catkins.

Noticed them along the river Wylye at Wilton. Dangling from the Hazel tree. Am told the name is Dutch from Katteken, and they are male ! Female seeds/pollen hide away. Leave that bit to the  ology  people, I just liked looking at them as the river passed them by.
