Freestyle Flight Trials

It’s been a great day around Central Florida, with lots of avian competitors for the upcoming AOG.  And this reporter has had a fantastic day covering the pre-game activities.

We started the day at Viera Wetlands and the Click Ponds where there were many exciting activities.  A two hour drive took us to the rookery at St. Augustine where things were in high gear.  Great Egrets, White Ibis, Snowy Egrets and the fabulous Roseate Spoonbills were all vying for top spots in the free-style flight events.  There are still some more trials tomorrow morning, but right now Team Spoonie seems to be the team to beat.  

Team Spoonie did, unfortunately, have a small “situation” with two of their star athletes.  See Extra for a revealing shot.  We hope that tempers will be less contentious tomorrow!

Your Intrepid Reporter will be checking in tomorrow morning at the St Augustine stadium before heading towards Gainesville.

Opening ceremonies will be starting in mere hours so be sure to stay tuned!
