Figs and Time

Finally a bit of time to do a considered blip. It's been ages!

This morning was spent doing school portraits, of which the highlight was spending time with an amazing boy with Autism (sorry if that's not the proper way to refer to it, I'm not good at PC terminology!) He'd never really successfully had his picture taken, and was always missing in the family album and in mail outs to relatives. Anyway, as luck would have it I didn't have to be anywhere in a huge rush, and enjoyed the luxury of having a bit of time to spend with him, getting him to take a picture with my camera, helping him to straighten out the props and the backdrop, checking them for symmetry by taking more pictures. We managed a couple of shots, but the studio lights didn't go down too well, so when all the other portraits were finished we got together again and moved out to the playground. Ahhh natural light and fresh air, my favourite studio. He was brilliant. He smiled beautifully. We got some great shots. The teachers and I were all welling up. I can't wait for his mum to see them.

Oh and the figs...off to Milnthorpe market via lovely sunny back roads I'd never used before to get flowers for the weekend influx of guests. I couldn't resist succumbing to the Milnthorpe's most sophisticated wares....2 figs for a quid and a bag of Jereusalem artichokes - ooh la la!
