Artifacts

We have been digging in these recycled concrete blocks as stepping stones. Over the last two days, I have been amazed at what the earth has yielded. The warped sun glasses were found a few feet off the archeological dig, but the other collection included: a bone; two square head nails; a rusted spike; fragments of wood from an old construction; a 3/4 inch thick piece of glass (no idea where this might have come from); a .22 caliber spent and rusted bullet casing; and a piece of chipped flatware. All evidence of another time and other lives here. It reminds me of the lyrics from Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young's "Deja Vu":

"And you know, it makes me wonder,
what's going on, down under the ground .
Do you know? Don't you wonder? What's going on, down under you?"

Oh, and we beat Butte Falls tonight 64-16 to run our record to 21-2.
